Pixelmator has two ways of creating a gradient: as a fill for a shape or using the gradient tool on a layer. The method is slightly different for each. The Gradient Fill tool fills layers with your chosen gradient — a gradual transition between multiple colors. You can choose from the gradient presets that come with Pixelmator Pro or create and save your own. You can also fill any layer with a gradient using the Gradient Fill effect. A gradient will always have at least two colors. Fill a layer with a color or gradient. Select the layer or layers you would like to edit. Click in the Tools sidebar. Choose Tools > Style (from the Tools menu at the top of your screen). Press the S key on your keyboard. In the Tool Options pane, click Add Style and choose Fill. You can add as many of the same styles as you like.
